Pinehurst No. 1
Pinehurst No.1 has always been one of the resort’s best kept secrets. Holes one, two and three are routed around charming equestrian stables, harkening you back to an earlier time when golf first began in this country
The 6,089 yardage on Pinehurst No.1 can be misleading. Because Donald Ross used mules to create this course, he incorporated the raw contours and undulations of the natural terrain, creating a very playable course and a favorite for a great starting round.
The fifth hole is a picturesque par-three of 173 yards with a yawning bunkerstretching across two-thirds of the green. At 22 yards the 12th hole, with its tee box overlooking the water is one of the most challenging par-threes at Pinehurst. As you stand on the 18th green with the sun setting over the clubhouse, you’ll understand why Pinehurst is considered the St Andrews of golf in America
