St Andrews Scotland

Recognized the world over as the Home of Golf, St Andrews Links has borne witness to over 600 years of golfing history. That the game evolved and developed into its final form here has never been in question. Golf has been played on the famous Links since as early as the 1400s, and it was here in 1764, when the 22 hole Old Course was reduced, that today’s 18-hole round was established, becoming the standard for golf courses the world over.

One golf course has now become seven, and many of golf’s most dramatic moments have occurred here. The Links has played host to the game’s greats as well as those enthusiastic amateurs for whom the chance to play St Andrews’ hallowed turf is a dream come true.

Today more than 230,000 rounds are played over the seven public courses. St Andrews Links Trust also manages a number of additional facilities including a golf academy, three clubhouses and five shops including the Tom Morris Shop, the oldest golf shop in the world. Throughout its unique history, the focus of the Links has remained on nurturing the game here in St Andrews, ensuring our golf courses are open to all, managing the courses in a sustainable way and providing free golf to the children of the town, through our Junior Golf programme, SALJGA.

The Links Clubhouse offers fantastic facilities for golfers playing the Old, New and Jubilee Courses including lockers, showers and drying facilities. Upstairs the Swilcan Restaurant provides stunning panoramic views over the Old Course. With its famous Tom Morris cocktail, the restaurant offers everything from fish and chips to a post-round light bite. The roof garden is a popular scenic spot for photographs and the restaurant is a popular venue for private dining and functions.
