Wisconsin

The Epi-Center of Golf in Wisconsin is the small town of Kohler Wisconsin. Kohler is situated about half way between Milwaukee and Green Bay, but for the manufacturing plant that bares the same name, few people ever heard of Kohler. Then one day one of America's top golf designers decided to imprint his golf course knowledge on the area and the result has been the birth of one of the premier golf destinations in the country.

Designed by the legendary Hall of Fame architect Pete Dye, Kohler's four championship golf courses are all ranked among the best in the United States by many leading golf publications. In addition to the four outstanding courses surrounding the village of Kohler there are now four other equally challenging courses in Wisconsin that have recently earned recognition in Golf Digest's top 100 courses for 2017 and a fifth one that will undoubtedly be included next year.

Check out all of our courses and make plans now to visit what is becoming one of the premier golf destinations in the country. Wisconsin is more than just the home of the Green Bay Packers its now a place for great golf.

According to Golf Digest, Wisconsin is home to seven of America’s 100 Greatest Public Golf Courses and with the opening of the second of two courses at the new Sand Valley Resort that number will most likely increase by two more.

In 1982 SentryWorld blazed the trail as Wisconsin’s first destination golf course. Since then dozens of new championship courses designed by such noted golf professionals as Jack Nicklaus and Ben Crenshaw have opened. This past year the US Open Championship was held at the Erin Hills just outside of Milwaukee.

Whistling Straits, the proud host of the 2004, 2010 and 2015 PGA Championships; the 2007 US Senior Open; and soon to be host for the 2020 Ryder Cup Matches, is the crown jewel for Wisconsin Golf. But with courses like SentryWorld, Erin Hills, Lawsonia, Troy Burne, the four Kohler courses and the two new courses at Sand Valley, Wisconsin should be on your bucket list if you are at all serious about golfing.

As much as we have stressed the importance of planning ahead whether you are visiting Myrtle Beach or Hilton Head, that sentiment can not be over emphasized when you consider playing golf in Wisconsin. Although much of the recent interest has been on the Kohler area of the state, Wisconsin has outstanding golf courses spread throughout the state.

As Wisconsin's reputation as a premier golf destination continues to grow, Wisconsin has added dozens of top notch lodging facilities to keep up with the demand. However, as with the golf courses the lodging facilities are spread throughout the state and if you choose the right lodging facility but don't take in to account which courses you want to play, then the morning commute to your course could be a long one.

If your primary reason for visiting Wisconsin is to play golf then plan ahead and ask your golf travel guide to recommend lodging that is close enough to your golf courses that you are not going to spend the whole morning getting to your first tee.

The following list includes some of Wisconsin' s finest lodging facilities. To get directions to your lodging facility you can use the map at the bottom of the page.
