CONQUISTADOR COURSE

The Conquistador Course at Hilton Tucson El Conquistador Golf & Tennis Resort is a recently renovated Greg Nash design offering state-of-the-art agronomic conditions and a true ‘country club’ feel. Fringed by natural mesquite and palo verde trees, this fabulous 18 hole course is intertwined with vibrant desert flora and offers four sets of tee boxes suitable for golfers of all abilities.

Wide, open fairways and long holes provide the challenge of negotiating desert vegetation. The fourth hole at the Conquistador Course is a 375 yard par-4 that requires an accurate tee shot to avoid the desert on both the left and right. The second shot requires a carry over the desert that crosses the fairway to a tricky elevated green.

The memorable 541 yard, par-5, fifth hole requires every type of shot to play over a pond to a two-tiered green protected by bunkers, so choose your club and shot wisely. Hole number 11 is a 539 yard par-5 that doglegs right. Desert protects the fairway on both sides and the green is perched above a ravine that boasts some of the deepest rough on the course.

Conquistador Canada

CANADA COURSE

Make sure to bring your camera when you visit the Cañada Course, as it boasts stunning mountain views from most every hole. Play through saguaro capped hillsides surrounded by natural desert terrain, and enjoy manicured fairways and spectacular views of the Catalina Mountains and desert wildlife.

The 183 yard 8th hole overlooks the city, and was voted the toughest par 3 in Tuscon. It is bordered by desert on both the right and left, and the green is guarded by a large bunker in front. Everyone is happy with a par 3 here! The 10th hole kicks your back nine off with a bang. The 453 yard par 4 has a desert wash down the entire right hand side and some precisely placed mesquite trees on the left requiring golfers to hit a drive that is both long and straight. From the fairway, you still have a long iron to a narrow elevated green.

The 533 yard 16th hole is a true risk/reward par 5. If you’re feeling strong, why not attempt to carry the wash that cuts across the fairway 260 yards from the tee. If you navigate the drive, the green is reachable, but requires a carry over a large pond. Birdies or double bogies are in play here. The Canada Course measures over 6,800 yards from the Championship tees and over 5,000 yards from the forward tees. The tight, desert-lined fairways and undulating greens make for a fantastic playing experience.
